                           Mother: The Ultimate Care-giver For A Disabled Child 

 Giving birth or raising child is a very challenging task for every mother. It becomes more complicated when it comes to a disabled issue. Not only it is several times more expensive, but it 

creates untold pain & suffering to mom's life. Observing the baby's illness, having a bit confused, 

feelingly utterly daunted by the enormity of what she is going to take on....However, overcoming the initial shock, the loving mother engrosses herself in caring the kid with a bleeding heart. Faltering at first time, mom gradually learns how to cope with the difficulties. 

Like any newborn, the handicapped may not be welcomed warmly. So the baby's pleasant sound seems to be harsh to others. This type of kids need constant help. "Feeding, toilet training, getting them to sleep"are more challenging as well as time consuming. Ignoring all her relief, making the world smaller, hampering the day-to-day works, mom keeps herself busy around the clock, dealing with the illness, as if "the child as the Sun around which she orbits". Thus the working mother turns into "stay-at-home" mother.

Unlike normal children, the disabled offspring can not express their demands, likes, dislikes etc, and a lack of co-ordination makes the task more complicated. They remain dependent on others throughout their lives. So the baby with down's syndrome is the mother's new companion. In this way, the mother & the child become inseparable. What is more pathetic is that, mom often blamed for giving birth a disabled child, though she is not responsible for what happened to the kid. But she is the one who willingly  takes the down's responsibility alone on her shoulder.

Lack of refreshing sleep each night, additional stress and pressure cause larger health problems. There is no short-cut way, no way to make life simpler for mom. Nobody cares what she is going through. The pain becomes severe for the single mothers, who have already been suffering for both the financial  and  lack of manpower problems. Beside mother, grandmothers are available for taking care the disabled babies. But considering their ages, they may not be the long-time carers.

Actually,the parenting of the disabled is "blend of joy, sorrow, love, anger, wonder, frustration, regret, resentment and longing", which mothers have been experienced "along the road of caring". Though unfortunately, such mothers get chance to prove their patience, to showcase the ir unconditional loves for  their dear ones.

No doubt, it is a pathetic journey for the mother of the special needs. Thinking about their disabledness, they should be given more respects. If, suddenly, mother "drops out of the care giving circle", what will happen to the down's fate, or who ill be the loving carer after the mother's painful demise.
